This village has a particular and characteristic architecture. It is built on the ledge of the caldera, gazing at the Aegean on the one side and the craters on the other side.
The pebbled elliptical square of the village is impressive and the only volcanological museum in Greece, the Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary and the houses with typical single incline roofs, will fascinate you. The Monastery of Saint John the Theologian and the Monastery of Panagia Kyra are the rest of the village’s sights.
